There be chickens here

So I was idly talking to Kevin a few months ago about how cool it would be to have fresh eggs from our own chickens. A few months later on my birthday I open two presents - one a stuffed chicken toy and the other is a book on looking after chickens. One week later a man came roound to deliver two chickens, a roost/pen, a run and a huge sack of fed (www.omlet.co.uk). It is quite simply one of the best presents I have ever had. Possibly only my first real record player one christmas comes close.

We had a naming ceremony last weekend (any excuse for a party). The white one is called Miss Babs and the brown one Miss Berta. The names come from Victoria Woods Acorn Antiques if you are puzzled (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/v/victoriawoodasse_7776960.shtml)

It has been a year since the last update to this blog. I hope I can be a little more forthcoming in the months to come.

A grand and horrifying tour

Just a quick nod to a friend of mine who recently spent a month or two in America traveling round some of the country. Of particular note is the end of the trip in New Orleans. He got out by the skin of his teeth. Glad to have you back Andrew. XX

Google Earth

I've found a wonderfull piece of what the Internet should be about. It's called Google Earth, and can be downloaded from here http://earth.google.com/. It's really good for such nerds as I, who love maps. It really needs a high speed link (at least 128 kbps). The search features are not good, but I like to believe they will get better.

New House #01

And as it is past my bedtime and (touch wood) exciting things are happening right now, here's another blog - I'm moving house! This is it. Four bedrooms, 2 attic rooms and a small cellar (well room enough for the wine). I don't know the square footage. My house is not sold yet, but Kevins is, and that is all we need to get the mortgage.

To say that acquiring a house like this is more than we hoped for is an understatement. Hopefully we shall be happy there for many years.

As the title of this blog suggests I'd like to think that I will be adding more entries as what I'm sure will be the saga of buying this house in the UK unfolds.

Night night xx

Aerial

OOOOOOOH MYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD!!!!!! (Spoken in a Vicky Pollard way)

After 12 years of absence I await with baited breath the arrival of a new studio album by she who must be worshiped - Kate Bush! After a few quite dreary things on The Red Shoes (including that God awful duet with Prince) I thought she may have hung up her Fairlight for good, but no. And bugger me if it's not a double! At 37 I should not be getting so excited by the release of a CD of music, but here I am writing a blog entry, which when you consider just how prolific I am at blogs is quite excited.

Roll on November 7th and the release of AERIAL.

Should I :
1) Take the morning of release off work and go and buy it at HMV like I used to.
2) Use modern day techniques and wait for Amazon to deliver.

The second choice I think.

Introduction

Haa!

As one of the last remaining Ludites in the IT industry that thinks XML is absurd and uncommented code a sin, I thought I would stand firm in the face of these Weblogs. However friends have them, family have them and so many work colleagues have them it is embarrassing. But the truth is, a cousin-in-law (is this a thing?) has one that is FREE; so I said - I'll have some of that.

Give me a while to come up with something to bleat about and I'll get back to you.

By the way (no acronymns here), the name of the blog is the title of a favorite song of mine by The Divine Comedy - give them a listen. And it is also a nod at our friendly Internet - now with that thought in my head, I need a drink. Where did I put the beer... it's here somewhere ... maybe behind the methys...ah haaaa!

Have Fun.
